LESBOS South - Plomari

Plomari is not only the second biggest town on the island, the first being the capital of Mytilini, but its also known as the Ouzo capital of Lesvos. The original town was named Potamos ( = River). The new town was built in 1842, following the pirates' attacks and when it was desided to leave Megalochori and live by the seaside. It went on to become an important commercial port with cultural life, beautiful beaches and other interesting places to visit, all of which makes it a great place to visit all year around.
